  Outline

A quadrennial competition - one of the three major official international volleyball competitions, together with the Olympic Games and the World Championships sponsored by the International Volleyball Federation.
Men's and Women's World Cup has been hosted since 1977 in Japan.
And it has become an Olympic Qualifier since 1991.
As for the World Cup 2007 its top three finishers will be qualified for the Olympic Games 2008 in Beijing.

  Competiton Format

Single Round Robin for Men and Women (11 games per team)

The following 12 teams will participate in the World Cup for both Men and Women:

Organising country : Japan
The First plan in the 2007 Continental Vice Championsihp : Asia, Africa, Europe, Norceca, South America (Five teams)
The four 2007 Vice-Continental Champions placed highest in the FIVB World ranking (January 15th, 2007) : (Four teams)
FIVB/Organizing Commitee nominated : 2 teams
