Americans rekindle winning spirit
Tokyo, September 26, 2007: With a bronze medal in the 2007 FIVB World League and a gold in the recent NORCECA Championship, the United States have clearly shaken off their World Championship blues.
The Americans were a major disappointment at the 2006 World Championship in Japan, losing their first two matches to Venezuela and Bulgaria and eventually finishing a lowly 10th of 24 teams.
On a World League visit to Japan earlier this season, USA head coach Hugh McCutcheon spoke of the new spirit and ambition in the ranks after the problems of last year. …More
