Euro final rematch starts Osaka round

Osaka, November 5, 2007: The head coaches of the six Site A teams gathered at the team hotel in Osaka on Monday for the FIVB press conference. A rematch ofthe 2007 European Championship final between Italy and Serbia will start the action at Namihaya Dome on Tuesday. Italy won 3-0 on that occasion, but 2006 World Championship bronze medallists Serbia have Beijing in their sights. (more…)

Tokyo, November 1, 2007: The official FIVB press conference for Site A teams took place at the Keio Plaza Hotel inShinjuku on Thursday, starting at 6pm local time. Present were the head coaches of the six teams who will play their opening games at Tokyo Metropolitan Gymnasium on Friday.

Fuji mounts massive broadcast operation

Tokyo, November 1, 2007: Fuji Television is about to embark on a massive logistical exercise as host broadcaster of the FIVB World Cup 2007.
A maximum of 25 cameras will be in use at a single venue, including one ultra high-speed model and three super slow-motion cameras.
The operation will involve over 100 kilometres of cable for the entire event, as the women’s and men’s tournamentswill be played over 11 rounds in four phases using two venues each. (more…)

Tokyo, October 31, 2007: The “Surprise Thais” were the first overseas team to check into the official team hotel in downtown Shinjuku on Wednesday morning.
“We are so excited to arrive in Japan because it is the first time for us to compete in the World Cup,” said Thailand head coach Srisamutnak Nataphon.

Tokyo, October 31, 2007: The hypnotic Japanese cocktail of volleyball and J.Pop music will be played out in front of a royal gallery when the FIVB World Cup starts on Friday.
His Imperial Highness Crown Prince Naruhito will be the guest of honour at the opening ceremony at Tokyo Metropolitan Gymnasium, starting at 6.30pm. Hamamatsu Arena, venue for Site B, will hold an opening ceremony simultaneously with the main event in the capital. (more…)
