Preliminary rounds at the Capital Indoor Stadium and Beijing Institute of Technology Gymnasium. Finals at the Capital Indoor Stadium.

Qualification System
Host = 1 team (China)
2007 FIVB World Cup = 3 teams
Continental Olympic Qualifying Tournaments = 5 teams (See Note I below）
World Olympic Qualifying Tournaments = 3 teams (See Note II below)
Total = 12 teams
Note I: The Asian Olympic Qualifying Tournaments for men and women will be incorporated into the World Olympic Qualifying Tournaments to be held in Japan.
Note II: There will be one World Olympic Qualifying Tournament for women, incorporating the Asian qualifier, and three World Olympic Qualifying Tournaments for men, including the Asian qualifier.

August 31-September 30, 2007: Continental championships to qualify for World Cup
October 2, 2007: Draw for World Cup
November 2-16: World Cup for women, Japan
November 18-December 2: World Cup for men, Japan
December 1, 2007-January 15, 2008: Continental Olympic Qualifying Tournaments (4) in Europe, South America, Africa and NORCECA (North and Central America and the Caribbean). Winning team qualifies.

May 17-25: Women's World/Asian Olympic Qualifying Tournament, Japan (a. top team; b. best Asian team except the team qualified in (a); c. top two teams except the teams qualified in (a) and (b) qualify)
May 23-25: Men's World Olympic Qualifying Tournament, Dusseldorf, Germany (top team qualifies)
May 30-June 1: Men's World Olympic Qualifying Tournament, Portugal (top team qualifies)
May 31-June 8: Men's World/Asian Olympic Qualifying Tournament, Japan (top team plus best Asian team qualifies)
July 23: Deadline for Beijing 2008 Organising Committee to receive entry forms from National Olympic Committees.
